Washington has enough proof to put Luis Posada Carriles on trial for murder,after statements made by terrorist Francisco Chavez Abarca and contained in documentary shown on Cuban television this week, lawyer Jose Pertierra affirmed on Thursday.

In the documentary report "La Ruta del Terror" (The Path of Terror), Chavez Abarca referred to terrorist acts against Cuba and Venezuela.

He declared that Posada Carriles confessed to him he had brought down a Cuban plane in 1976, and recruited him to plant bombs in Cuba.

Abarca's statements are the proof; they point to Posada Carriles as the brains behind those crimes, the lawyer stressed.

Pertierra, who represents the Venezuelan government in that country's extradition request for Posada Carriles, said he plans to attach to the extradition request the statements made by Chavez Abarca regarding the terrorist's involvement in bombing of the Cuban airliner.

That terrorist recruited Chavez Abarca to try to kill Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and other politicians, and to sink Venezuelan oil ships en route to Havana, Pertierra told the Cuban television news program.
