UN applaud Friday the resumption of talks on the conflict of Mapuchee prisoners on hunger strike in Chile and asked an early solution to prevent casualties.

A communiqué spread on Friday by the official spokesman of the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki Moon, shows the UNO's welcome to these contacts. UN Secretary-General called to move forward on deal as soon as possible.

UN will continue helping Chile in implementing the Convention of the International Labour Organisation on Indigenous and Tribal Peoples and UN Declaration on the Rights of those groups, the note says.

The 34 prisoners are on hunger strike in the city of Conception since July 12 to demand the Antiterrorist law not to be applied to them. This law was passed in 1984 during Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship.
