The Cuban experience in using biological methods to control epidemics in countries such as Brazil was one of the issues discussed Thursday at the Labiofam 2010 International Congress, which closes this Friday in Havana.

The application of Cuba's Bactivet biolarvicide to control malaria-transmitting agents in Brazilian cities such as Manaus, and the behavior of that disease in the Amazon, were on the agenda for discussion on Thursday.

Likewise, participants were to hear from Vietnamese expert Tran Dang Thanh regarding rat control in Vietnam using the Cuban biological rodenticide.

The situation of malaria in Africa and specifically in Angola was also to be addressed, by experts of the prevention project on that continent.

Over 500 specialists from Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Asia are attending the Labiofam International Congress, a scientific institution dedicated to the development of veterinary medicine and products for the control of diseases transmitted by vectors.
