Cuban men´s and women´s teams put on a great display in round six of the 39th World Chess Olympiad, defeating their respective opponents by wide margins.

The Cuban women´s team beat Kyrgyzstan 4-0, with victories for Lisandra Ordaz, Oleiny Linares, Yaniet Marrero and Sulennis Piña.

In the Cuban men´s team, Lazaro Bruzon and Fidel Corrales, second and fourth boards respectively, defeated their opponents. Leinier Dominguez and Yuniesky Quesada drew with their opponents from Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Other men´s teams that got victories today were: Brazil over Finland 4-0, Argentina defeated Jordan 3.5-0.5, Uruguay defeated Switzerland and Puerto Rico won Iraq 2.5-1,5. Colombia drew 2-2 with Russia4.

On the other hand Chile was defeated by Serbia, Ecuador by Bulgaria, Costa Rica by Latvia, Mexico by Germany, Peru by Israel, Venezuela by Kazakhstan and Bolivia by Andorra.

Other women´s team that got victories today were: Colombia (3-1 over Lithuania) and Bolivia.

On the other hand Argentina was defeated by Iran, Peru by Albany and Brazil by Bangladesh.

Guatemala and Paraguay drew between them.

After six rounds, Ukraine heads the men´s teams, with a short advantage over Armenia and Georgia. The womenâ's  teams are led by Russia1, the only team that has won its 6 bilateral matches.

Cuba is the best placed in Latin America in both sexes. The men´s team is 15th and the women´s team is 18th.
