27 de Agosto 2010. Félix Sánchez, Ciego de Avila province´s writer, is the winner of the 9th Julio Cortazar Short Story Ibero American Competition for his story, Los confines de la muerte, as it was announced yesterday at the Dulce María Loynaz Cultura Center in Havana.

The jury which was presided over by the Cuban writer María Elena Llana and integrated also by writers Daniel Chavarría and Eduardo Heras León, unanimously granted the award to Sanchez´s story because of its idiomatic richness and the anecdote´s excellent structure. "For those acquainted with Cortazar´s personality - expressed the winner - its a honor to receive an award like this one in the day of his birthday. This makes me live a moment of happiness and even though one writes for the pleasure of do it, things like this one are welcome."

"It is an extraordinary short story, you will have the opportunity to read it", commented Chavarría.
