The Cuban Baseball Federation announced on Thursday the national 39-member pre-selection team for the World Championship and Pan-American Games qualifier scheduled for October 1-10 in Puerto Rico.

The group includes five catchers, 10 infielders, seven outfielders and 17 pitchers who will be training at the Latinoamericano stadium in Havana.

The list of capped players includes most of the members of the squad that recently won the World University Championship in Japan.

Twelve teams are expected to participate in the Puerto Rican tournament split in two preliminary groups.

The top six finishers will qualify for next year’s Pan American Games of Guadalajara and the World Baseball Championship.

This is the list of players capped.

Catchers: Ariel Pestano, Frank Camilo Morejón, Yulexis La Rosa, Yosvany Alarcón and Yenier Bello.

Infielders: José Dariel Abreu, Alexander Malleta, Yunier Mendoza, Michel Enríquez, Aledmis Díaz, Yoilán Cerce, Héctor Olivera, Alexander Guerrero, Yuliesky Gouriell and Yorbis Borroto.

Outfielders: Frederich Cepeda, Ariel Lázaro Sánchez, Alfredo Despaigne, Yoennis Céspedes, Alexei Bell, Giorvis Duvergel and Yoandry Urgellés.

Pitchers: Pedro Luis Lazo, Miguel Alfredo González, Yadier Pedroso, Odrisamer Despaigne, Yulieski González, Jonder Martínez, Norberto González, Arleys Sánchez, Norge Luis Vera, Vladimir García, Dalier Hinojosa, Freddy Asiel Álvarez, Alexander Rodríguez (GTM), Maikel Folch (CAV), Robelio Carrillo (VCL), Ismel Jiménez and Miguel Lahera.
