Cell Phone Service to be Expanded in Pinar del Rio

PINAR DEL RIO, Cuba, Aug 19 (acn) The territorial office of the Telecommunications Company of Cuba (ETECSA) is leading works for the building of the second radio base station in the city of Pinar the Rio with which mobile telephone service will be broadened in the area.

Construction works include the installation of a 45-meter high tower on top of a 12-story building, according to local radio reports.

ETECSA's executive Servando Hernandez said the project will increase the number of lines available and strengthen cell phone coverage in the area.

He added that ETECSA's investment programs include civil works in the towns of Guane, Sandino and Los Palacios, with the implementaton of civil works.

In general, the project includes the creation of 13 radio bases stations to increase the capacity of mobile telephone services, improve traffic conditions and expand the service area.
