Cuban film ‘Jose Marti: el ojo del canario’ (Jose Marti: the Eye of the Canary) won the second Award of the Public during the recently concluded Film Festival of Lima, Peru.

Prensa Latina news agency reports that the first award of the public was for ‘Hotel Atlantico’ from Brazil while the Peruvian movie ‘Contracorriente’ shared the second spot with the Cuban film.

‘Jose Marti: el ojo del canario’ was directed by filmmaker Fernando Perez who was inspired on the childhood and adolescence of Cuban National Hero Jose Marti.

The film was screened in Cuba earlier this year and it was warmly welcomed by the public and critics.
