Diego Armando Maradona said on Thursday in Caracas that might visit Cuba and meet with Fidel Castro.

"The other day I saw him on TV very well, very lucid, opposed to what Americans want, who want to see him dead. He is very much alive and that makes me very happy, "he said in the Miraflores Palace, during a meeting with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Maradona also said about Chavez:

"For me it's an honor to be next to the president, because fight for his people, for the country and for his ideals. I am with him to death, I am constantly listening to him as he defends all his positions and I think it is fantastic, "said Maradona.

In the midst of the event, broadcasted live on television, Chavez announced the breaking of diplomatic relations with Colombia for a "dignity" matter and the constant attacks by the outgoing administration of President Alvaro Uribe against his nation.

"The truth is, that the Colombian people is not to blame", Maradona said.
