Tijuana, Mexico, Jul 8 (Prensa Latina) Cuba will move on to the semi-finals in the North Central America and Caribbean Volleyball (NORCECA) Women''s Junior Championship after defeating Puerto Rico in three sets in the qualifying match of group B of the tournament.

  They also won the right to compete in the Women's under 20 World Championship.

Sulian Matienzo had the most outstanding performance, scoring 13 points, followed by Cheila Cardona with 8 points.

Diana Reyes and Neira Ortiz scored 9 and 8 points respectively for the Puerto Rican team.

Cuban captain Yunieska Robles said they went to the court to win although they knew it would be difficult to defeat the Puerto Rican team.

Cuban coach Wilfredo Robinson said they have not won a tournament like this for many years.

The American team also got its ticket to the semi-finals unbeaten. They defeated the Mexican team in three sets (25-19, 25-16 and 25-23) in group C.

In group A the Dominican Republic defeated Canada; 17-25, 25-12, 25-18 and 25-23.

El Salvador got its first victory over Guadalupe in group C.

The Dominican Republican will meet Canada and Mexico will meet Puerto Rico to determine the other two teams in the semi-finals.
