HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 17 (acn) The vice president of the Cuban councils of State and Ministers Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdes Menendez analyzed on Wednesday the increase of energy consumption in the country and called upon the people to observe energy saving measures.

During a meeting in central Cienfuegos province, Valdes Menendez was briefed about a trend toward national over-consumption of energy that began in May and has continued in June.

According to Granma newspaper, he told directives in charge of the energy saving program in the central provinces to supervise and demand compliance with the existing regulations in this regard.

The leader of the Revolution visited economic facilities in Cienfuegos such as the Santiago Ramirez quarry where he saw a modern Chinese stone crusher that can process 60 cubic meters of stone per hour.

He also visited a new digital telephone exchange —connected through optic fiber with the main plant of the Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA)— that will offer its services to more than 4,000 clients.

He also received details about three new diesel tanks recently installed as part of the expansion works at the Camilo Cienfuegos refinery.

Valdes Menedez was accompanied by the minister of the Basic Industry, Yadira Garcia Vera; the first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in Cienfuegos, Jose Ramon Monteagudo Ruiz; and the president of the Provincial Assembly, Rolando Diaz Gonzalez.
