Representatives from several Latin American nations will attend, as of June 10, the 2nd Continental Meeting of The Americas of the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS).

Specialists from Argentina, the Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, Uruguay and Martinique will attend the forum, which will have Havana’s Hotel Nacional de Cuba as its venue.

Eddy Fernandez, President of the Federation of Culinary Associations of the Republic of Cuba, told ACN that participants in the meeting will review the performance of the WACS in the region and will devise a work schedule for the coming years.

During the event, which will also focus on the presence of women in this specialty, delegates will pay tribute to late Chef Gilberto Smith, Life President of the institution.

Fernandez pointed out that Guissu Gudmunsson, President of the World Chef Association, which will meet young talents working in Cuban gastronomy and tourism facilities, will be among visitors.

The World Association of Chefs Societies was created at the Sorbonne, Paris, in 1928.
