HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 2 (acn) Cuba announced the 12-man roster to face Argentina, which arrives today in Havana, in the opening series of the XXI Volleyball World League.

The Cuban squad is led by captain Roberlandy Simón and Wilfredo Leon,both with outstanding performances in the past edition.

Centers Osmany Camejo and Ibel Mesa are also part of the roster, along auxiliaries Joandry Leal and Henry Bell, according to Granma newspaper.

The rest of the team is made up of attackers Fernando Hernández and Rolando Cepeda, passers Raydel Hierrezuelo and Yoandri Díaz, and libero Keiber Gutiérrez and Gustavo Leyva, coached by Orlando Samuels with the assistance of Idalberto Valdés and Nicolás Vives

The press conference prior to the two-game series to be held at the Havana's Sports City's Coliseum is schedule for this Thursday.

In the 2009 World League Cuba finished in the fourth position and Argentina fifth. Recently Cuba beat second place Serbia in a three-training-game series held in Havana, while Argentina defeated Bulgaria in five sets in one training game.

Both teams are in pool D, along Germany and Poland. Cuba will play Germany as home club next June 11-12 and then Poland (18-19) also in Havana.
