NEW YORK, May 22 (Reuters) - Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has been fined $100,000 for violating the NBA’s anti-tampering rules over comments he made about Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James, the league said on Saturday.

After seven seasons with the Cavaliers, James becomes a free agent this summer with several teams expected to make major pitches to land the two-times league MVP.

Under NBA rules teams are forbidden from expressing interest in other teams’ players until the free agency window opens on July 1.

Phoenix Suns President Steve Kerr was also fined $10,000 for his comments during a radio interview.
