HAVANA, Cuba, May 18 (acn) Representatives from ten countries will participate in the boxing tournament of the Fifth Cuban Sports Olympiad that is underway in the island.

According to sources from the National Boxing Commission, Venezuela and Australia will each bring 15 representatives to the boxing competition scheduled for eastern Camagüey province from May 23 to the 27.

Venezuela will be led by the two-time world medalist Alfonso Blanco (75 kg) while Australia will be represented by almost all of those who participated in the Giraldo Cordova Cardin International Tournament recently held in Havana.

Colombia will be represented by 13 boxers, including South American champions Ceiver Avila (52 kg), Oscar Negrete (54 kg) and Cesar Villarraga (60 kg), while the Dominican Republic brings eight boxers led by Pan American silver medalist Jose Pallares (+91 kg).

Other countries attending the boxing tournament include Kazakhstan (8), Ecuador (7), Morocco (4), the Bahamas (1), Argentina (1) and Congo (1).
