Municipal Assemblies Will Be Constituted on Wednesday

According to the Trabajadores weekly, the 15,093 delegates recently elected in as many districts during a nationwide partial election will assume their posts and will elect the presidents and vice presidents of their respective municipal governments in solemn sessions that will coincide with the 115th anniversary of National Hero Jose Marti’s death in combat.
On Monday and Tuesday, commissions of candidacy comprised of representatives from grass-roots, student and farmers organizations are scheduled to meet to work on the list of candidates for presidents and vice presidents that they will present to the municipal legislators.
On Wednesday, the municipal representatives, who were elected for a period of two and a half years will approve or not the candidacy by a show of hands and they will later do it by direct and secret ballot.
