VERO BEACH — The Cultural Council of Indian River County’s Art in Public Places Program is displaying Francine Toirac’s “Reflections of Cuba” collection through July 14 at the Indian River County Courthouse, 2000 16th Ave., and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

The collection includes 15 images of contemporary Cuba presented on large canvases.

The artist’s grandmother’s lavish descriptions of an emerald island just beyond the Florida Straits spawned a deep longing to visit this Eden, the land of her heritage.

The paintings feature reflections on Cuba’s land and cityscape, the Afro-Cuban music culture, old American cars preserved from the 1950s, gracious architecture and most importantly the beautiful people in their array of splendid colors.
