The office of the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR) will carry out at least 750 surprise audits of unnamed companies nationwide "to halt labor indiscipline, crimes and corruption," the official media revealed Monday.

Comptroller General Gladys Bejerano Portela, who was appointed to her post in August 2009, said that CGR inspectors will also look for proof of poor management and unproductive labor.

The audits will be conducted at random, from April 19 to at least May 22, Bejerano said. Their objective is "to contribute to labor discipline, ensure the optimum use of resources, detect pilferage and other crimes, analyze the cause of workplace crimes and adopt measures to solve them."
