Two gold medals was the Cuban harvest at the China Open Boxing tournament, an event won by the host nation with five titles.

According to a report issued by the Cuban delegation Idel Torriente (60), 2008 World Cup champion, beat 8-2 Chinese Lui Qiang in a match the Cuban dominated from beginning to end, despite the great support his opponent received from the audience.

The other gold medal was for lightweight Poll who had also to fight with the whole arena against him. His rival, host Huricha Bilige, made a strong opposition and the bout ended 7-6.

The third Cuban who reached the finals, welter Arisnoide Despaigne, lost 1-2 against Kazakhstan’s Manat Omirzhakov, and ended up with silver.

Cuba went to this tournament with only five boxers, and all of them finished with medals, because the other two Andry Laffita and Yankiel León won bronze.
