A puppet show event from Cuba and Spain, with novel staging, started last Tuesday evening, in Matanzas, as preamble to the 9th edition of the International Theater Workshop of that modality.

Rubén Darío Salazar, director of Las Estaciones, said to the AIN that ther will perform in the Papalote and Mirón Cubano rooms and the park of La Libertad groups that will take part in the workshop and that will advance proposals, as a tribute to the Iberian nation, a country to which this event is dedicated.

Las Estaciones presented Federico de noche, a work based on the life of Federico García Lorca, a look towards the childhood of the Granada poet, and which has been many times awarded in Cuban theatrical festivals and has praised for the specialized critic .

Very well known groups in the puppeteer world as Arbolé, from Zaragoza; La Rous, Titiritran and other Spanish ones are present in Matanzas to take part in the playwriting, direction and giant dolls workshops that are included in the biennial event, expected to start this Saturday.

René Fernández Santana, National Theater Award and promoter of the International Workshop, commented that on Sunday they will develop the sociocultural space La calle de los Títeres, an opportunity for the children of the community to feel part of the great feast.

Premieres, exhibitions, posters, screening of audio-visual materials, conferences, tributes and more than 60 shows for children and adults has already taken place this April 10, Matanzas is in fact a city invaded by puppets.
