Cuban male wrestler Mijaín López, Olympic and World Champion will compete in the Pan American Wrestling Championship, from April 30 to May 2 in Monterrey, Mexico, announced Cuban News Agency (ACN).

Mijaín López will compete in the PanAm Championship.

  López, Olympic Champion of the 120 kilos in the Greco-Roman style in Beijing 2008, will defend his continental title, after recovering himself of a surgical intervention in one of his elbows.

 Besides Lopez, three times World Champion, the members of the Cuban team will be Gustavo Balart (55 kilos), Raúl Consuegra (74), Pedro Issac (66) and Pablo Shorey (84), these last two world bronze medalists in Denmark 2009, and Yasmany Lugo (96).

 Pedro Vals, head of the technical coaching team, and Mario Olivera, appear as the trainers in the classic style.

 In the free wrestling style, the members are: Frank Chamizo (55 kg), Alejandro Valdés (60), Geandry Garzón (66), Iván Fundora (74), Reineris Salas (84), Michel Batista (96) and among the women there will be Idirmis Acea (55), Yamilka del Valle (59), Katherine Videaux (63) and Liset Echevarría (72).

 All of them directed by Julio Mendieta and Barbaro Morgan (men) and Rodolfo Alfonso (women).

 Eduardo Pérez Téllez, national commissioner, told AIN that the Cuban fighters carried out a good training and they will fight to get the biggest amount of medals as possible.

In this occasion the island will not present competitors in the categories of 60 kilos in the Grefco Roman style, 120 (free) and 48, 51 and 67 (women), he specified.

 The sport leader said that the Cuban athletes will leave for Mexico on April 18 to carry out trainings before the beginning of the event
