Now that almost 7 000 teenagers are not longer boarding full-time students but day students, the Cuban province of Camagüey saved more than 3,5 million pesos in transportation last year.

The closing of 65 boarding schools in different educational levels, economized on fuel, food and provisioning saving, aside from contributing to make a more suitable use of the labor force. The aforementioned details were known during a plenary session of the Provincial Trade Union of the Workers of Education, Science and Sport Sectors.  

Pedro Alberto Seijo, member of the National Committee of the Cuban Workers Federation (CTC), stated that together with the improvement of the teaching process, saving of the budget is a main priority for the field.
