With the presence of 36 competitors from seven nations this Monday in Nueva Gerona, Isla de la Juventud, Cuba the second edition of underwater photography prize FOTOSUB Colony 2010.

This competition named after the hotel (Colony) that hosts the participants, famous since the 1960s for accommodating those interested in these activities, from around the world.

The president of the Cuban Federation of Underwater Activities (FCAS), Deborah Andollo, announced that in 2013 this place will host a global specialty.

The owner added that this event will mean the culmination of an extensive program of competitions and events including the 15 to 20 February the Colony FOTOSUB 2010.

The Colony and Punta Francés, stages of the competition, are also among the favorite locations of the organizers of FOTOSUB, which for the second consecutive year is convened by the Ministry of Tourism and co-sponsored by the Gran Caribe hotel chain,
and Marlin Marinas, among others.

On its side, the FCAS provides bylaws of the contest and presents the local team, composed by three national championship winners and models: Carlos Otero and Dayamí Perez, Hector Sardiñas and Amideh Rakip, and Daniel Perez and Neysis Rodriguez.

Deborah Andollo is the best performer of Cuban diving but left in 2002 to devote her activities for the development of these activities on the island.

Cuba is a member nation of the CMAS since 1967 when the island organized the World Championships Spearfishing in Cayo Avalos, in the southwest of this nation, but it is in July, 2006 that FCAS is locally institutionalized.
