Hurdler Dayron Robles and triple jumper Yargelis Savigne head the Cuban athletics team which will begin a tour of Europe aimed to train for the IAAF World Indoors Championship 2010 in Doha, Qatar, announced Radio Havana Cuba.

Javier Sotomayor, manager of the team, pointed out that the team’s first competition will be on January 30 in Stockholm and the last one in Lievin, France.

Cuban former high jumper and world record holder; outdoors (2.45 meters) and indoors (2.43 meters) stated his team will also compete in Spain, UK, Czech Republic, Germany and Greece.

The Cuban team is also made up of triple jumpers David Girat, Yoandry Betanzos, Alexis Copello and Mabel Gay who are world medallists.

Also Anay Tejada bronze medalist in World Indoor Championships Valencia 2008 in 60 hurdles meters, hurdler Dayron Capetillo, Jose Lescay and Michel Herrera (60 hurdles meters), William Collazo (400 meters), Mileidis Gonzales, Maylín Vargas, Carlos Veliz (shot put) and Wilfredo Martínez (long jump).

Sotomayor said that the team’s aspiration in Qatar is to improve the Cuba’s result in Valencia championship in which Cuba ended fifth.
