On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) a commemorative medal was bestowed on Cuban leaders Fidel and Raul Castro and posthumously on Revolution Commander Juan Almeida Bosque.

The Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, said it had been a privilege to have been guided all these years by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, whose example, his clear and universal way of thinking, his ethics and deep principles along his capacity to
understand the tactical and strategic situations, set the path for them to follow.

In a solemn ceremony, held at the Revolutionary Army Forces Universal Hall, Rodriguez presented the medal on the Cuban President Raul Castro and gave him the ones for Fidel and Almeida.

The Minister highlighted the contributions made by the three men to the Cuban diplomacy. He also recalled the brilliant work carried out for 17 years by late Raúl Roa García, who was called by the Cuban people as “the chancellor of dignity”

Rodriguez went over the work of the ministry during this half century; in every task the Revolution gave them along the people, and especially when they faced the aggressions from the enemy while at work.

Sixteen of the MINREX founders received medals to acknowledge their performance for over 25 years, in representation of the almost 400 that have worked that long in that ministry.
