The October 29-November 8 Festival, sponsored by the National Stage Arts Council, honors 50 years of development encouraged by the Revolution.
Latin America was represented by Chile, Ecuador and Cuba, while Europe was present through France, Germany, Slovenia and Spain.
Cuba presented 30 plays, ranking from the classic "Si Vas a Comer, Espera por Virgilio," that honors late dramatist Virgilio Piñera, and the latest "Y Sin Embargo, Se Mueve" by La Colmenita company.
Outstanding figures like Vicente Revuelta, Abelardo Estorino and Jose Melian ran conferences and workshops. Specialist Barbara Rivero explained that most important is meeting with the pioneers, with those that broke away from routine and gave national theater true meaning.
The Cuban Culture has been one of the main strongholds of the Revolution since its very beginning
