Cuba prioritizes the development of renewable sources of energy and its efficient
Energy centers the second day of an international conference opened here yesterday, with the attendance of 200 delegates from 16 countries.

The session begins with a lecture on renewable sources of energy as basis of the world energy system.

Meanwhile, Cuban experts will present the country's ambitious projects for the development of renewable energy faced with increased oil prices and exhaustion of its natural reserves.

According to the Cuban Basic Industry Ministry, Cuba's wind energy has a potential of about 4,500 megawatts, and 2,000 of them with favorable capacity for its exploitation.

Cuba will also show its advances in the setting up of more than 8,000 solar heaters, similar number of photovoltaic panels, and 700 bio-gas plants.

Cuban authorities consider that renewable sources of energy are indispensable to achieve the energy sovereignty the country needs to handle the current world crisis.
