The project involves the firms Qatari Resorts Company and Gran Antilla, which set up the joint venture Gran Paraíso to build a five-star, 450-room hotel on Cayo Largo del Sur, as part of a project that also includes the construction of 60 villas and a shopping center.

Ghanim Bin Saad, executive director of Qatari Diar, pointed out that the project is just the beginning of the company's operations in Cuba, where other investments will be made in the near future.

The company, which belongs to the Authority of Investments of Qatar, is involved in more than 80 projects throughout the world, where it has invested some 60 billion dollars.
