by Parque Morro –Cabaña (Morro-Cabaña Park), the fortress that
stretches over the shore of the channel of entrance to the Bay of
Havana on high ground.
Being located at few minutes from the
center of the capital, beautiful sights of the city are dominated from
this place , were every night takes place one of the most picturesque
and well known Cuban traditions: The 9 o´clock Cannon Shot.
El
Castillo de Los Tres Reyes del Morro(The Castle of the Three Kings of
Morro) , a valuable treasure of the Cuban architecture that form this
complex, is considered one of the Cuban fortresses of greatest
symbolism. It was built at the entrance of the bay between 1589 and
1630 by the Italian Juan Bautista Antonelli, who worked as an engineer
for the Spanish Crown in the making of the project of the defense
system of the West Indies and The Caribbean Spanish Colonies.
His
legacy gives us the opportunity to enjoy such a cozy place that, being
more than 3 centuries old, still treasures unmatched experiencies.
