Casa de las Américas in Havana received the 60th anniversary distinction from the Cuban Association of the United Nations (ACNU) on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.

ACNU General Director Carlos Amat presented the award to Casa de las Americas President Roberto Fernandez Retamar. This prestigious institution carries on the spirit of Latin American and Caribbean integration instilled by Haydee Santamaria.

On the celebration an emotional moment for participants was the screening of the documentary "Vamos a andar por Casa," by Victor Casaus, filmed on the 20th anniversary of the Casa in which Haydee Santamaria speaks about the work of the institution.

Also the singer-songwriter Augusto Blanca sang, for the first time in public, a song he composed 29 years ago, after Haydee's death. The piece, entitled "La gran casa," reflects Haydee Santamaria's efforts to promote Latin American integration following the work of Jose Marti, Simon Bolivar and Jose de San Martin.
