Eastern Las Tunas province is the largest producer of organic fertilizers on the Caribbean island.

In 2008, Las Tunas was among the largest producers of worm humus, and there are plans to increase production this year.

Organic fertilizers are highly effective on tobacco crops and are exported to Caribbean countries.

Las Tunas is the major supplier of organic fertilizers to Empresa Cubana Exportadora y Comercializadora de Productos de la Ciencia y la Técnica Agraria.
