Deputy Construction Minister Rafael Soler told Juventud Rebelde newspaper that program must grow by 65 percent in the production of wall elements in 2009.

The number of blocks planned for the end of December this year, he stated, is 24.6 million, almost 10 million more than in the previous period.

Soler stressed that the figure of bricks will reach 24 million, representing a 23-percent increase compared to 2008.

According to those plans, Pinar del Rio must produce in 2009 about 3.5 millions of concrete in local industries, because that western Cuban province has nearly 30,000 houses totally collapsed.
