More electricity in Nuevitas Cuba
The works are taking place in areas next to the plant that has just celebrated its 40th anniversary. The first machine is expected to start operations by mid-year and will have a generation capacity of more than 40 megawatts/hour.

Industrial Works Construction Company No. 8, based in Nuevitas, is in charge of the works. According to the execution schedule, the full battery will ready to synchronize to the national electric power system by the end of the current year.

When this power generation unit is ready, the “10 de Octubre” thermoelectric plant, one of the most efficient in the country, will no longer depend on the national generation system to start its units. This is what happened when hurricane Ike struck. Then the most extensive province in Cuba was completely insulated.

As a result of the new investment, the energy required to ignite the thermoelectric plant in Nuevitas can be generated and sent over by the power generation unit.
