Cuban has Increased Exports Charcoal
The central province of Sancti Spiritus exported 150 tons of charcoal last year, and reported revenues of nearly 21,600 convertible pesos by that concept.

Italy, Spain and some Caribbean countries were the major importers of charcoal, whose demand has increased due to the high quality of the Cuban product.

The right weight and use of humidity-free hard or semihard timber are major requisites for good charcoal, according to international standards.

Charcoal production also contributes to eliminating parasite species such as marabou, which reproduces and grows rapidly on fertile land.
