More than One Thousand New Titles at Cuba Book Fair
Dedicated to Chile, the book fiesta will also pay tribute to Cuban writers Fina García Marruz and Jorge Ibarra, and to the Habana-based Casa de las Américas cultural institution on its 50th anniversary.

Cuba’s Book Institute President Iroel Sánchez, told the press in Havana that the book fair will be taken all over the country, with the exception of the areas most affected by Hurricanes Gustav, Ike and Paloma last September and November.

He stressed that residents of the 40 most affected municipalities will have access to some of the activities in the framework of the fair.

Letras cubanas publishing house’s proposals will include a reissue of Alejo Carpentier’s ‘La consagración de la primavera’ and a song book by Silvio Rodríguez.

Arte y Literature publishing house, for its part, will present works by several renowned writers. They include, among others, ‘La pasión de los poetas’ by Argentinean Jorge Boccanera, ‘Por ahí anda Rulfo’ by Chilean Volodia Teitelboim and ‘Las piedras de Jerusalén’ by Swedish Lasse Soderberg.

The book fair, which attracts more than 4 million visitors every year, will conclude on March 8th in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba.
