A total of 457 companies from 53 countries at FIHAV 2008
Speaking at a press conference here in Havana, Abraham Maciques, president of the organizing committee, explained that there will be more nations represented at this year's event than last year's when representatives from 49 countries attended. Lesotho and Macedonia will participate for the first time.

"Likewise, the exhibition area hired increased to 12,589 square meters. More than 1,200 business representatives will display their products, technologies and services, and will also sign new deals and exchange information on potential agreements," said Maciques.

Spain, Canada, the People's Republic of China, Italy and Germany will have the largest participation at FIHAV 2008, which will also be attended by 19 official delegations -- some of them headed by ministers and presidents of Chambers of Commerce or international institutions.

The Cuban Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation (MINVEC) will play a leading role in the search for new markets and exchanges.
