Cuban runner Yunidis Castillo became the Latin American queen of the womens 200m
Castillo"s performance has turned out as predicted and this is the fifth gold medal won by the Cuban delegation, being Isao Cruz (judo), Leonardo Diaz (men"s discus throw) and Luis Manuel Galano (men"s 400m) the first Cuban gold medallists in the Paralympics.

Cuban runner Freddy Durruthy won silver in men"s 400m and Lazaro Raschid also got silver in men"s 800m.

Victor Sanchez and Juan Carlos Cortada (judo), Gerdan Fonseca (men"s shot put) and Ettiam Calderón (men"s 200m) have won bronze medals.

The Caribbean island has totalled five gold medals, 2 silver and 4 bronze, and is 16th in the medal table.

Brazilians Dirceu Pinto and Eliseu Santos got gold in boccia and Daniel Diaz won a silver in swimming.

Mexican Felix Cepeda got bronze in men"s javelin throw and placed that nation 17 in the medal table (4-2-4).
