In Cuba Art in eight thousand student centres
"The Brigade has a big working program for the next student curse to celebrate the 50 anniversary of our revolution. From the 20 of October and until the same date of 2009 we will celebrate the fifth anniversary of our organization. This year is also the 45 anniversary of the death of Olga Alonso, an important figure of the movement of art instructors to who we will also dedicate the student year".

The work of the art instructors, indicated Ametyer, will have during this period a wide repercussion in the communities. “Work in schools must also involve the family, the neighborhood, the institutions, the social beings to enrich the cultural life of the teaching centers and made them the most important cultural space in the communities”, she said.

She also said that it will be one of the main tasks in the education, formation and consolidation of the values of the brigade members, “because we also are young people in education”.

According to Ametyer, “the brigade must function as that cultural movement Fidel asked for. Since we have now more brigade members, we have the chance to place them also in the mountain schools, in the places with difficult access”.

Another objective of the brigade this year, indicated its president, is to strength the links with the Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (Asscoiation of Cuban Writers and Artists) and with the Hermanos Saiz Association, something that bears important fruits for the technical and cultural improvement of the instructors. “We are also going to strengthen the work related with national history in the appreciation and creation workshops. This is not a divorce from the teaching process, but a vision of the artistic optic as corresponds to the art instructors”.

The brigade will also make its second Festival. In November it will be in a community level, in December in the municipalities, during the first month of next year in provincial level and in June the national one. Ametyer explained that ‘the instructors will be able to come with their students, it means with their choirs, theatre project or choreography and even with their community projects”.

Before that, in February, the Brigade will held its national workshop, in which the young instructors will present the researches made by themselves in their area.

“Through these workshops – added the president – we have been able to see the importance of the cultural research inside the schools and in the communities, as well as its value to change some processes that occur in some places”.

“In this student year the brigade will try to achieve that every school, even though it might not have its musical instructor, have its choir. We will favor the rebirth of the choral movement. The musical instructor will attend neighboring schools and in the mountain areas, where the schools have only a few students, there will be community choirs”, ended Ametyer.
