Over 46 500 Hotel Rooms in Cuba


The official attended one of the sessions of the Seventh Pan-American Cocktail Competition, slated for August 25-31 at the capital's Habana libre Tryp Hotel, with the participation of 180 delegates from 12 nations.

Rodriguez made a summary of this sector over the last few years and stated that Cuba has seen tourism as an industry since 1988 through a program that prioritizes four-five star hotels.

Cuba bases its entertainment industry on over 559 miles of excellent beaches, eight sites declared World Heritages by the UN Education, Science and Culture Organization, and six biosphere reserves.

Cuba has at present 14 foreign hotel chains with 24,167 rooms, over 50 percent of the total, among them recognized companies like Sol Melia (Spain), the first in having businesses of this kind with Cuba.

The country expects 21 new projects with 16 foreign ventures for 15 golf courses, among other plans, including hotel and catering business, and nautical and extra-hotel activities.
