The judo tournament of the 29th Olympic Games in Beijing Ends
Three Latin American judokas will fight for the Olympic title: Cuba's Idalys Ortiz, Mexico's Vanesa Zambotti and Ecuador's Carmen Chala.

The most experienced judoka is Ortiz, who debuted in the Beijing Olympic, but she won a silver medal in the World Supercup in Hamburg, Germany, this year, and fifth place in the World Championship in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2007. Ortiz will fight against Ukraine's Maryna Prokofeyeva.

Cuba's Oscar Brayson, winner of the World Cup in Prague this year, will fight in the men's tournament.

The Japanese judokas lead the tournament, after winning three gold and two bronze medals.

Japan is followed by China (2-0-1), South Korea (1-2-1) and Azerbaijan (1-0-1). Cuba has won three silver medals and one bronze medal, and is the best-placed Latin American country, ranking tenth.
