25 video clubs, distributed among the Havana municipalities as part of the 2008 Summer
Ernesto Acosta Victores, Provincial Director of the video clubs, told AIN news agency that the current plan is better than last year´s, since it includes more varied proposals that will have their premiere.

“Every Friday night is dedicated to adults, featuring video debates, recorded music, conferences and workshops, aimed at improving the quality of life, as well as raising the cultural level of those who have lived longer,” he said.

He explained that there are spaces dedicated to children. “On Saturday mornings, there are children´s dances, games and films, video games and other activities to liven up the vacations plan dedicated to the younger generations.

Also at the Videoarte center, amateur children, guided by an instructor, have the chance to show their artistic talent. There, they could also enjoy other cultural activities, including the presentation of clown and puppet shows, stage productions, poetry readings and others.

According to Acosta, during the summer there will also be art exhibits at the municipal art galleries, including paintings, drawings, photographs and engravings.

Together with the Provincial Film Office, the video clubs are also offering courses on film appreciation dedicated to children, young people adults, alike.

"We, the provincial leaders, are committed to working harder towards encouraging all sectors of society, especially young people, to raise their cultural level,” he said.
