Some 60 000 people participated in the Cuban carnival in London
Cuba's Carnival in London, held for the first time in 2005, has just ended in that city's Southwark Park.

The director of the Cuban Sur Caribe music group and honorary president of the carnival, Ricardo Leyva, was in charge of closing the event, which was also attended by another band, the Charanga Habanera, according to information published by the Cuban Foreign Ministry's Web site.

The well-known fiesta was organized by the Cuban Bar-Restaurant Company, and sponsored by various British institutions, like Virgin Atlantic, and several travel agencies of that European country.

Cuban products like Caney Rum, coffee, criollo food, handicraft, and recorded music promoted by Artex S.A., were offered to participants during the celebration.

Some 60,000 people participated in the Cuban carnival, British, residents from neighbouring countries, and Cubans living in the United Kingdom.
