In Havana and other Cuban cities 22nd International Music Festival Boleros de Oro Dedicated to Ecuador
The event is sponsored by the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC), the Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Agency of Musical Royalties (ACDAM), Cuba ´s Music Institute, the National Council on Performing Arts and the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT), among other institutions.

During the event, bolero singers from Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, Spain and Japan will delight Cubans and thousands of foreign visitors who come to the Caribbean island every summer to attend this event.

Among Cuban bolero singers that will perform at this year´s event are César Portillo de la Luz, Mundito González, Beatriz Márquez, Omara Portuondo, María Elena Pena, Marta Valdés and Orestes Macías, just to mention some of the best exponents of Cuban traditional music.

Renowned experts like José Ramón Artigas, Jorge Musa and Jesús (Chucho) Hernández will be in charge of producing and directing the live performances, concerts and shows, in general, at the Mella and América theatres and at other Havana venues. Following each night´s main performances at the above mentioned theatres, there will be presentations by bolero singers at Havana nightclubs, like the Hurón Azul, belonging to the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC), the Casa Dos Gardenias, the Gato Tuerto and the Hotel Nacional.

Boleros are a tradition in Havana , as well as in other Cuban cities, including Santiago de Cuba, Camagüey, Villa Clara and Pinar del Río, and they are also included in the cultural heritage of the local municipalities of Morón and San Antonio de los Baños. That is why those Cuban cities and municipalities have their own program of activities in the framework of the annual bolero music festival, with live presentations by Cuban and foreign artists.

The event´s program also includes an international colloquium, for Cuban and foreign experts to discuss and debate current issues related to bolero songs.

The annual ‘Boleros de Oro´ Festival is the oldest and most prestigious musical event featuring boleros in the Western Hemisphere.
