Las Tunas, Cuba Pays Homage to Poet Gilberto Rodríguez

The poet's son, Rafael Rodríguez Medina, will read the bard's poems, and the rest of the program includes panels, recitals and reading of poems in student and labor centers.
The prizes on musical composition, declamation, sonnets, illustration of verses and the grant of a creation scholarship will be announced in the headquarters of the UNEAC on Thursday 5th at 9:00 p.m.
Gilberto E. Rodríguez was born in Las Tunas city on June 5, 1908 and died on September 27, 1989. Poet and journalist, won prizes in Havana, Santiago de Cuba and in his native city.
Rodríguez was member of the House of the Poets, in El Cerro, Havana. He collaborated in magazines and newspapers, such as Diario de Cuba, Patria (Santiago de Cuba), Archipiélago (Caibarién), Cúspides, Orto (Manzanillo), Heraldo de Las Villas (Villa Clara), El Pueblo (Banes), Alborada Villazulina, El Noticiero (Puerto Padre), among others.
For his outstanding work, Gilberto is recognized as the poet of the 20th century in Las Tunas.
