Deputy President of the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television, Guillermo Pavon, told the National Information Agency that the Island will carry out a gradual investment program in existing stations to provide them with modern, highly-effective equipment.
The 250-Watt Radio Esmeralda covers the whole territory of Esmeralda municipality, joining another nine radio stations in Camaguey province.
Cuba has currently 69 local radio stations, including a small one in Cocodrilo, in southwestern Isla de la Juventud special municipality, which offers its services to nearly 500 inhabitants.
