The event was presided over by Jorge León, Cuban Ambassador and the manager of Baila Cuba. Several personalities, related to cultural and social life in Singapore assisted to the event. There were also other ambassadors posted in Singapore and Indonesia, as well as the Latin Community who lives in that country.
The Gala started with the welcoming words from Ambassador León, who offered a brief panoramic view of the origin and development of Cuban culture. Afterwards there was an artistic performance which offered a dissertation of every Cuban rhythm, dances and music. The quality of the singers, the orchestra and dance corps from the Cuban company was greatly recognized and enjoyed by the public, who were not able to remain in their seats and danced to the Cuban conga, rumba and salsa beats in a colorful show. This show undoubtedly contributed to a greater spreading of Cuban cultural and traditional roots and to a greater exchange and mutual influence between Cuba and Singapore.
