Cuba and UNESCO will celebrate in Havana: Cultural Diversity Day
UNESCO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean Director Herman Van-Hoff highlighted in a press conference the need to obtain cultural diversity in this contemporary society.

This subject has been one of the major concerns of our organization for 70 years, Van-Hoff affirmed, recalling that 2005 convention dedicated to the protection and promotion of the diversity of cultural expressions.

During the encounter UNESCO National Cuban Commission President Maria de los Angeles Flores cancelled the celebration of a commemorative postal seal and emphasized the importance of seeking unity within a diverse culture to protect inherited properties of peoples.

The program of activities to celebrate the date includes all artistic manifestations, Literature, Cinema, Theater and Fine Arts.

One of the main activities will be the International Colloquium organized by Casa de las Americas, to take place May 26-28, with the participation of intellectuals from Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti and Venezuela.

The opening of two exhibitions also takes place, one of them entitled "Todos mis recuerdos de Sevilla" (All my memories of Seville) with works of Servando Cabrera Moreno (1923-1981) dedicated to that Spanish city.

World Day of Cultural Diversity celebrates seven years ago at UNESCO headquarters countries.
