According to Juan F. Porcegué, economy chief of the enterprise, the entity saved over 2 000 tons of steel as well as several hundred tons of aluminium, bronze, copper and glass bottles during the first two months of the year.
The steel materials collected in Sancti Spiritus are sent to Havanas Antillana de Acero steel factory and to the steel plant in the Cuban eastern province of Las Tunas, added Porcegué.
Likewise, he said, both copper and aluminium are used in the production of cables while the latter is also used in the construction of windows and doors.
