Director of the Latin American Institute of Museums (ILAM), Georgina di Carli, praised Cubas efforts.
Speaking with ACN, di Carli said that Cubas work in the area of restoration, conservation and museology is admirable as she has been able to witness in the last 10 years during her visits to the island.

According to di Carli, some of the main aspects in this work include the safeguard of buildings, the scientific rigor of Cuban researches related to the heritage and the increase and improvement of museums.

She also praised Cubas participation in the ILAM website, where the island is present with nearly 90 online museums.

Di Carli, who is participating in the 7th International Congress on Cultural Heritage underway in Havana with the participation of more than 200 delegates from 14 countries, announced that after the event they hope to include several municipal museums in their website.

While there were only seven museums when the Cuban Revolution triumphed in 1959, the islands museum network now has 302 institutions of this type across the nation. One of their priorities is the conservation of local heritage.
