 Increase Sales during Book Fair Cuba 2008.
Raiza del Campo, Director of the Provincial Book and Literature Center, told Prensa Latina news agency that some 250,000 people have visited the additional venues, after the Morro-Cabaña complex --the events main venue-- closed its doors on February 24th.

"The most coveted titles," she added, "are those dedicated to children and youth, among them 'Ortografía by Luz Marina Hernández and 'Corazón by Edmundo de Amicis, as well as 'El desfile de las vocales by Ana Núñez, 'Vamos todos a cantar by Teresita Fernández, 'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain and 'Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi.

Novels like 'Adiós Hemingway and 'La cola de la serpiente by Leonardo Padura, 'En el cielo con diamantes by Senel Paz and 'Allá ellos by Daniel Cavaría are also among the best selling titles.

Added to these are a new Cuban edition of the book 'Cien años de soledad (One Hundred Years of Solitude) by Gabriel García Márquez, illustrated by Cuban painter Roberto Fabelo; 'Poesía by Pablo Neruda and 'Diccionario del pensamiento martiano by Ramiro Valdés Galarraga.

Other titles in great demand due to the issues they deal with include '¿Qué nos pasa en la pubertad? by Mariela Castro Espín and 'SIDA, confesiones a un médico by Jorge Pérez -- both sold out.

Also sold out are the titles ¿Qué harás después de mí? by Antón Arrufat and 'La polémica cultural de los años 60 by Graziella Pogolotti --National Literature laureates in 2000 and 2005, respectively, and the two Cuban intellectuals to whom this years fair is dedicated.

The memoirs of Aleida March -widow of Argentinean-Cuban guerrilla fighter Ernesto Guevara (Che) " entitled: 'Evocación (Evocation) was also sold out within just hours of its launching.

Although the Havana stage of the book fair was officially closed on February 24th at its main venue -the Morro-Cabaña complex- the secondary venues remained open until March 2nd.

The fairs travel nation wide began in the western region on February 25th and will conclude in eastern Santiago de Cuba on March 9th.
